I am Monsignor Michael J. Henchal and I am the administrator of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish here in Scarborough.  Our parish is now part of a cluster of parishes which also includes St. Bartholomew Parish in Cape Elizabeth, along with St. John Parish and Holy Cross Parish both in South Portland.  For me, serving the parish as part of a cluster means that I am also the administrator of St. Bartholomew Parish.  For our parishioners, it means that more and more we are trying to share our programs and gifts with one another throughout the cluster in order to make the most effective use of God’s gifts in order to tell the Gospel anew in our time and place.  It is our goal before all else to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to our communities.

St. Maximilian Parish is the newest of the parishes of the cluster and also the largest, growing rapidly along with the rest of Scarborough.  We first broke ground for the church here in 1989 and have expanded with a large addition since then.  Today we number is excess of 1500 families.  It is a young community with loads of children.  We are particularly proud of our faith formation programs for the young.  But there is something here for everyone.  We like to think that we are an exciting and dynamic parish to be part of with a wide variety of programs and opportunities for people to become involved in parish life.

As the newest member of the staff of the parish (I only became the administrator on June 1, 2006) I am pleased to join the other very competent and qualified staff members who serve you here along with countless volunteers.  It is their hard work that makes it possible for me to be able to serve both St. Max and St. Bart’s parishes.

Please make full use of our web site.  It has a thorough description of our parish and its programs.  And if you have any questions or wish to become personally involved in the work of the parish in any way, please feel free to contact myself or one of our staff members.  May God bless you and your family.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Henchal
