MISSION
STATEMENT:
To
infuse the spirit of Christ into the laws, attitudes and morals of the
community. Parishioners, through personal dedication to the community of
mankind, should strive to alleviate human suffering and, even more
important, to eliminate the causes of social problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Education
About Justice
– To educate the parish in the teachings of the Church on social justice
and in the ways that working for social justice are an essential part of
being a Christian.
Education
About Particular Issues
– To educate the people about particular problems of social justice and
peace in their parish and about other social issues of wider concern.
Outreach – To investigate and coordinate the parish
response to problems of social justice on the local, national, and global
levels, especially to the needs of the poor, the sick, the oppressed and
the imprisoned.
Ministries
- includes Clean Clothes Campaign, Mission Basket, Project Grace, St.
Vincent DePaul Society Soup Kitchen, Wayside Soup Kitchen, Women Affirming
Life, Alzheimers Association October Walk, and Habitat for Humanity Walk.
Clean
Clothes Campaign - promotes awareness of work conditions in
sweatshops around the world.
Project
G.R.A.C.E. - seeks to improve the lives of its neighbors by
identifying both those in need and those willing to share their gifts, and
coordinating the interchange in a compassionate and confidential manner.
Women
Affirming Life - takes a leadership role to build a culture which
welcomes, respects and nurtures all human life.
