WEDDING REGULATIONS FOR ST. MAXIMILIAN KOLBE PARISH

SCARBOROUGH

1.        In accord with Diocesan regulations, all weddings must be scheduled at least six months in advance.

 

2.        Weddings may be celebrated on Friday evenings no later that 7:00 p.m. and on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. only. It is expected that the wedding will begin promptly at the time scheduled.

 

3.    Catholic spouses must obtain:

 a.  a recently issued certificate of Baptism

b.    a certificate of First Communion

c.    a certificate of Confirmation

 

4.    The wedding rehearsal is usually held the night before at a time agreed upon by the priest and couple. It is the responsibility of the couple to inform all those in the wedding party to be on time for the rehearsal. Before the rehearsal, the couple should have a definite plan for the order of the wedding procession (e.g. the first  usher will be..., the second usher will be...; the first bridesmaid will be..., the second bridesmaid will be..., etc.).

 

5     Music must be appropriate to the Sacred Liturgy. You are encouraged to contact the parish Music Director. However, the couple is free to choose other musicians and soloists.

 

6.    If altar servers are desired, it is the responsibility of the couple to provide them.

 

7.    No flowers or ornaments of any kind may be placed on the altar itself, but in the sanctuary area on the floor. No rose petals, rice, bird seed, etc. can be thrown either in the Church or on the grounds.

 

8.    Each couple must participate in some form of Pastoral marriage preparation (Engaged Encounter, Pre-Cana classes, Evenings for the Engaged, etc.) before the wedding.

 

9.    A couple may have any priest they wish to perform the wedding ceremony. It is the responsibility of the couple to contact the priest they wish to celebrate their wedding ceremony. The offering or gift to the visiting priest is a personal matter of the couple and is not related to the charge for the use of the Church explained in Regulation #10.

 

10   The fee for the use of the Church/Chapel is $200.00 for registered parishioners or members of their immediate families (son, daughter). For anyone not registered nor contributing member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish at the time of scheduling a wedding, the fee will $350.00. This is not an offering, a donation or a gift. Checks are to be made payable to: St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish. Payment MUST accompany the return of this signed form to assure the reserved date. The honorarium for a visiting clergyman invited by the couple to perform the ceremony or participate in it, is the responsibility of the couple.

 

11.  Within two weeks of the wedding, two items are to be brought to the Parish Office:

a.    the license

b.    the selection sheet for prayers and readings

 

12.  If the receiving line after the wedding ceremony is held in the Narthex of the Church, the Bride and Groom are to stand near the doors leading into the hall, not just inside the Narthex near the doors that lead into the Church.

 

I have read and understand all the above regulations concerning weddings at St. Maximilian Kolbe.
