The
St. Max Youth Ministry group recently joined with all of the other Youth
Ministry groups from Maine at Winter Carnival, which was held at Husson
College in Bangor. This event took place from Friday afternoon, January 4th,
until Sunday afternoon, January 6th. Youth Ministry members got the chance
to mingle and meet new people while enjoying various large group activities
and speakers.
Winter Carnival is an annual event that is tremendously exciting for all the
teens and a weekend well spent. Everyone arrived at the college around 6PM
on Friday, which gave us plenty of time to meet and have ice-breakers. Both
Friday and Saturday night there was free time from 10-12. Saturday was the
biggest day of activities. Getting up early and having breakfast at
your hotel was just the beginning of the packed day. Once everyone arrived
at the college, the teens that organized the day spoke and everyone got into
small groups. With more experienced teens as leaders, the small groups were
asked questions and given the chance to discuss their answers with each
other. This helped us to feel more relaxed and get to know each other very
well. About mid-day was lunch, then free time. We could choose from many
different free time activities, ranging from the movies/mall to taking time
to pray in the prayer room. At the end of free time, all the teens are
joined again to have a great dinner. The food is amazing and there are so
many different choices. After dinner was the dance. It was a great way for
all to relax, let loose, and have fun after the busy day. On Sunday was the
great mass, which is always so perfect and excellent. After mass, we
departed to go home.
The memories you have from Winter Carnival and other Youth Ministry events
are the best ones you'll keep. Meeting others who share the same faith and
ways is truly a great feeling. Winter Carnival is one the best weekends you
will have with memories you will cherish life long.
